Multiple User Sessions

As a best practice, we do not recommend logging in to more than one user session in a single browser. This practice ensures the integrity of patient information. 

What are multiple user sessions? 

  • You open a duplicate tab in the same browser. 
  • You log in more than once in the same browser.

Why can't I have more than one user session open?

Performing patient-specific activity in more than one tab or window in the same browser can cause data entry issues.

What can I do if I need to perform activity on two screens?

  • You can use Chart Preview (select the blue tab above the SOAP menu) to view other areas of the patient chart while in a chart or an encounter without leaving the page that you are currently on.
  • You can use two different web browsers; one for each activity (for example, Chrome and Firefox). Mac users can also use Safari.

Can I have a dynamic IP address?

No

Additional Browser Requirements

  • Allow pop-ups from healthfusionclaims.com.
  • Add healthfusionclaims.com as a trusted site if requested by the browser.
  • Safari: Turn off the block pop-ups setting (Safari does not specify sites).
  • iPads: For special print prescriptions or when e-prescribing controlled substances (EPCS), you must allow cookies in Safari.

Internet Speed

  • High-speed broadband
  • 5 Mbps download/1 Mbps upload or higher (also for stable video during e-visits)
  • Test your Internet speed

Software

The following software is required for some NextGen Office functionality:

  • Adobe® Acrobat® Pro DC or similar software
  • Adobe® Acrobat® Reader DC or similar software
  • DYNAMIC WEB TWAIN® software by DYNAMSOFT®
  • Microsoft® Word® or similar word processing software
  • Microsoft® Excel® or similar spreadsheet software
  • Zip compression/decompression software

Hardware

  • Airprint-enabled printer (iPad and iPhone)
  • ICA-compliant scanner (Mac)
  • TWAIN-compliant scanner (Windows)
  • Webcam and microphone (for e-visits)

Security

User IDs and Password Security

  • Do not share user IDs or passwords. 
  • Create unique and strong passwords of at least 14 characters.
  • Change passwords every 90 days at minimum. You are reminded every 90 days to change your password. Adhere to this recommendation.
  • Do not reuse passwords from other websites.
  • Use a password manager.

IP Address Restrictions

  • Set up IP address restrictions in Administration: IP Address Restrictions.


Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)

  • You can use VPNs to ensure continued access from mobile devices, homes, facilities, and offices.
  • Use secured and well-established VPNs. 
  • Do not use obfuscation or anonymous providers.

Account and Billing Information

  • Keep your practice's contact persons, email addresses, and phone numbers up to date.
  • Billing clients must monitor their user and sub-user lists and keep them updated.
