This article describes the NextGen® Office Premium Patient Portal features. Practices can subscribe to the standard or premium Patient Portal. The standard Patient Portal meets MIPS requirements.

Contact your Sales representative to subscribe to premium Patient Portal features.

Open Premium Feature Administration Pages

Some premium features have their own administration page where you can set up the feature for your practice. Links to these pages appear on the Administration page below Premium Portal Management.

Enable or Disable Features

Manage which premium Patient Portal features you want enabled for your practice in Administration: Enable & Disable Features. Some premium features, for example, Custom Check-in Processes, E-visits, and Rx Refill Requests, require activating features on this page.

Advanced Account ManagementPatients edit demographic and insurance information. 
Advanced Appointment Features
  • Request an appointment: Patients can request an appointment for a given time frame (for example, next week, M-F, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM).
  • Schedule an appointment: Patients can schedule an appointment on the calendar. * Setup required.
  • Appointment check-in: Patients can complete the check-in process prior to arriving to their visit (for example, Chief Complaint forms, Review of Systems, etc.).
To have patients select a time slot on the provider/calendar resource's calendar, you must set up that resource's calendar to show on the Patient Portal in Administration: Portal Calendar Management.
Advanced Medical Records ManagementPatients can add to their medical records, add allergies, add medications, etc.
Note: Clinical information will be in pending status and must be accepted by the provider’s office staff before it is officially considered part of the medical record.
 
e-VisitPatients can request an e-visit (telehealth visit). In place of a face-to-face encounter, an e-visit is conducted by videoconference, online chat, or phone.If you plan on collecting a patient payment or copay at the time of the e-visit, you must have an integration with credit card processing vendor for credit card payments. Contact your sales representative to set up credit card processing services.

Health Maintenance
  • Health Maintenance: Patients can view their Health Maintenance measure status on the Patient Portal (for example, high blood pressure control – overdue)
  • Health Logs: Patients can enter data into a flow sheet (for example, blood sugar). * Setup required.
For Health Logs, Flow Sheets must be enabled for Patient Portal access. Select the Enable on Portal for Patient Additions check box on the Flow Sheets page.
Hide Office VisitsProviders can hide the Office Visits menu from the Patient Portal. Patients cannot view encounter notes. 
Patient DocumentsPatients can view chart documents that have been made available on the Patient Portal. 
Patient PaymentsPatients can submit payments for copays, statement balances, etc.A credit card processing integration is required. Contact your sales representative to set up credit card processing services. 
Patient StatementsPatients can see their current balance on the Patient Portal. 
Rx Refill RequestsPatients can submit Rx refill requests.You must set up (in Administration: Rx Refill Requests) one or more message recipients to receive the Rx refill requests in Patient Messages.
Patient Portal InvitationAutomatically sends the Patient Portal registration invitation when a new patient is registered.
