You can use the Chart Messages feature to add a note or an alert to the chart in Practice Management.
Note about timestamp: The timestamp is currently in Pacific Standard/Daylight Time. The timestamp will be in the practice location's time zone in a future release.
Navigate to Create/Edit Message
Do one of the following from the chart:
- Within the Alerts section (at the top of the chart), click New Alert.
- Scroll down to the Messages section and click New Message.
- Click View/Edit Details and then click Messages on the Registration page.
Create a Note
- Enter a message in the Note field.
- For Type, select Note.
- Click Save Message.
Chart notes appear in the chart's Messages section at the bottom of the chart.
Create an Alert
- Type a message in the Note field.
- For Type, select Alert.
- For Actions, select either or both Alert on Scheduling and Alert on Billing.
- Click Save Message.
Chart alerts appear in the chart's Messages section and on Scheduling or Billing pages depending on what was selected for Actions.
Scheduling alerts also appear on the appointment scheduling screen and on the Check-In page.
Billing alerts can also appear on the Charge Entry and Patient Ledger pages and the Post Patient Payment screen.
Edit or Delete a Message
You can edit or delete a message from the same two areas that you created the message from. Do one of the following in the chart:
- Alerts: At the top of the chart, click Edit next to the alert you want to edit or delete.
- Notes: Scroll down to the Messages section and click Edit next to the note you want to edit or delete.
- Click View/Edit Details and then click Messages on the Registration page.
Edit a Message
Note: If you started this procedure from the chart, the message is already selected. You can continue from step 3.
- If you started this procedure from the Registration page, select the check box next to the message you want to edit.
- Click Edit Message.
- Make your changes.
- Click Save Message.
Delete a Message
- Select the check box next to the message you want to delete.
- Click Delete Message.
