Grant

The prescriber cannot grant or regrant privileges to themselves. An EPCS administrator other than the prescriber (e.g., a different prescriber, nurse, administrative staff) can grant privileges.

First Administrator Steps

  1. Select Grant EPCS. List of the prescribers who are ready for granting EPCS access are displayed with the EPCS statuses RevokedEPCSAccess and GrantEPCSAccess.
  2. Select the name of the prescriber and select Grant.
Grant EPCS
  1. A success message as Grant Successful is displayed and the prescriber is granted EPCS access.

Finalize Grant

The prescriber who is being regranted privileges can finalize for themselves or any other EPCS-activated prescriber can finalize.

Prescriber/Second Administrator Steps

  1. Select Finalize Grant EPCS. List of the prescribers who are ready for granting EPCS access are displayed with the EPCS statuses RegrantEPCSAccess and GrantedEPCSAccess.
  2. Select the name of the prescriber with GrantedEPCSAccess status and select Finalize.
Finalize grant EPCS
  1. You will land in the Finalize EPCS Registration screen.
  2. Enter the password received on your ID.me Authenticator app and select Submit
Finalize grant EPCS 1
  1. Your EPCS registration is complete. A message is shown as Finalize Grant Successful.

The prescriber is now finalized for transmitting controlled substances electronically. Note that the prescriber is now in the list of administrators and in the Revoke EPCS Privileges section, meaning that this prescriber can be revoked, but is now active for EPCS.

To verify that Finalize was performed successfully, check the EPCS Logical Access Control Rules with ID.me.

Re-grant

Once the prescriber's access is revoked, the prescriber will be in RevokedEPCSAccess status. The prescriber will have to undergo the grant and finalize grant processes for being regranted with the EPCS privileges.
