Set up and manage the premium NextGen® Office Patient Portal features on the Administration: Enable & Disable Features page. All features are deselected by default. Some premium features, for example, Custom Check-in Processes, E-visits, New Patient Self Registration and Scheduling (coming soon), and Rx Refill Requests, require enabling features on this page.

Requirements
Enable and Disable Features is a premium Patient Portal feature. Contact your Sales representative to subscribe.
Open Administration: Enable & Disable Features
- In PM, click Admin.
- Below Premium Portal Management, click Enable & Disable Features.
Enable or Disable Premium Patient Portal Features
- Select or clear the corresponding check box.
- Some features require additional setup. To open the setup page for that corresponding feature, click the hyperlink below Setup and Configuration.
- Click Save.

Advanced Account Management | Patients can edit demographic and insurance information. | |
Advanced Appointment Features |
- Request an appointment: Patients can request an appointment for a specific time frame (for example, 9:00–11:00 AM).
- Schedule an appointment: Patients can schedule an appointment on the calendar. * Setup required.
- Appointment check-in: Patients can complete the check-in process prior to arriving to their visit (for example, Chief Complaint forms, Review of Systems, etc.).
| To have patients select a time slot on the provider/calendar resource's calendar, you must set up that resource's calendar to show on the Patient Portal in Administration: Portal Calendar Management. |
Advanced Medical Records Management | Patients can add to their medical records, add allergies, add medications, etc. Note: Clinical information will be in pending status and must be accepted by the provider’s office staff before it is officially considered part of the medical record. | |
e-Visit | Patients can request an e-visit (telehealth visit). In place of a face-to-face encounter, an e-visit is conducted by videoconference, online chat, or phone. | If you plan on collecting a patient payment or copay at the time of the e-visit, you must have a credit card processing integration. Health Maintenance |
- Health Maintenance: Patients can view their Health Maintenance measure status on the Patient Portal (for example, high blood pressure control – overdue)
- Health Logs: Patients can enter data into a flow sheet (for example, blood sugar). * Setup required.
| For Health Logs, Flow Sheets must be enabled for Patient Portal access. Select the Enable on Portal for Patient Additions check box on the Flow Sheets page. |
Hide Office Visits | Providers can hide the Office Visits menu from the Patient Portal. Patients cannot view encounter notes. | |
Patient Documents | Patients can view chart documents that have been made available on the Patient Portal. | |
