Messages with Attachments Sent from NextGen® Office Patient Portal May Omit Attachments with Long File Names

Issue
NextGen Healthcare has identified an issue where messages sent from NextGen Office Patient Portal omit attachments with file names greater than 50 characters.
Steps to Recreate the Issue
- Log on to NextGen Office Patient Portal, and select Message a Provider.
- Select New Message, select the recipient, and then select any subject.
- Enter a message, select Browse, and then select a file with 51 or more characters in the file name.
- Enter a description, select Save, and then send the message.
An error message appears at the top of the page, but this message is often missed because patients need to scroll back up the page to see it. The message is sent to the provider without the attachment.
Actions Required
Until this issue is fixed, practices that receive NextGen Office Patient Portal messages without an expected attachment can request that patients include attachments with file names of 50 or fewer characters, including the file extension, such as.docx.
