Using Multiple Tabs When Scheduling Causes Appointments to Change or Move in Patient Charts
Release Date

Known Issue #
KI196609
Issue
In NextGen® Office Practice Management, front office staff schedule appointments for patients. There are cases where patients arrive for their appointments, but front office staff are unable to find any record of the appointments. This issue occurs when staff members schedule or edit appointments while having multiple patient charts open in multiple browser tabs.
Steps to Reproduce
Note: The following workflow is one example of how to reproduce this issue. Other workflows may also replicate this issue.
While the front office staff member is editing Patient A's appointment, Patient B is ready to check out. The staff member stops editing Patient A's appointment and opens a duplicate tab to check out Patient B. The staff member goes back to Patient A's chart to resume revising the appointment. Upon saving the appointment, the patient in context is now Patient B, which moved Patient A's original appointment from Patient A to Patient B, making it appear as if the appointment was never on Patient A's chart.
Action Required
We do not recommend using multiple tabs in EHR or PM.
