Unable to Direct Message Orders and Clinical Summaries

Issue
In NextGen® Office EHR, when using Direct Secure Messaging to transmit orders and/or share clinical summaries, the Direct Message window may freeze and the messages may fail to transmit to the recipients.
Steps to Reproduce
Direct Message an Order
- In NextGen Office EHR, open a patient chart.
- Select the Orders tab.
- Select the order's row.
- On the left navigation bar, select Tasks and Messages Tool
. - Select Direct Message.
- Scroll to the bottom of the window and type the recipient's Direct address in the To field or select a recipient from the favorites list and the address will fill in the To field.
- Type the subject.
- Type the message in the text box.
- Select Save.
The window may freeze and the message may fail to transmit to the recipient.
Direct Message a Clinical Summary
- In the encounter, select the encounter # to open Encounter Summary Preview.
- Select Clinical Summary.
- Select Send Direct.
- Scroll to the bottom of the window and enter the recipient's Direct address in the To field or select a recipient from the favorites list and the address will fill in the To field.
- Type the subject.
- Type the message in the text box.
- Select Save.
The window may freeze and the message may fail to transmit to the recipient.
View Sent Direct Messages
- On the bottom navigation bar, select Tasks & Messages.
- Select Sent.
If the message failed to send, an alert appears on the Sent button.
- To view the error message, select the error icon in the last field.
Action Required
Verify that the recipient received the direct message. If the direct message failed to transmit, fax the order or clinical summary.
