Potential Non-Clinical Urgent
Incorrect Patient Chart Is Active after Editing Patient Demographic Information
Release Date
April 21, 2023
Known Issue #
KI194986
Issue
This issue occurs when new patients are created through ZocDoc. After completing an action in patient A’s chart in NextGen® Office PM, and then opening patient B’s chart to update patient B’s demographic information, patient A’s chart remains active. The changes meant for patient B may be saved in patient A's chart if the appropriate chart is not verified. The active patient chart is the chart that is open, and you can see the patient's chart number, name, gender, date of birth, age, and account status at the top of the page.
Steps to Reproduce
- A patient schedules an appointment through ZocDoc.
A new patient chart (patient A) is created in NextGen Office PM.
- Perform an action in patient A’s chart.
- Open patient B's chart and select View/Edit Details.
- Edit patient B's demographic information.
- Select Save Changes.
Patient A's chart remains active, resulting in the possibility that any intended changes meant for patient B could be saved in patient A's chart if not verified.
Action Required
If you are a ZocDoc user, verify that you are in the correct chart before entering or editing demographic information.
