Electronic Order Results Not Linked to an Encounter Are Not Sent to a Health Information Exchange
Release Date

Known Issue #

Issue
In NextGen® Office EHR, electronic order results that are not part of an encounter are not sent to the health information exchange (HIE). For order results to be sent as part of the episodic C-CDA, they must be manually linked to the encounter. When data is not included as part of the episodic C-CDA, it affects clinical workflows that are dependent on reportable conditions.
Steps to Reproduce
Check with the HIE to see if electronic order results appear.
Action Required
- In NextGen Office EHR, in an encounter, select O > Order History.
- Select the order, and then select Results or the lightning bolt icon
for a solicited result.
The Order Results page opens.
- To link all order results to the encounter, select the e icon
next to the Test Name column heading. To link a specific order result to the encounter, select the e icon
next to that result.
The Review Prior Results window opens.
- Select Yes and then select Save.
All or specific order results are linked to the encounter. Once you mark the result as reviewed or sign the encounter, the details are associated with the episodic C-CDA and can be sent to any integrated HIE vendor.
