Potential Patient Safety
Chief Complaint Section of Clinical Summary PDF Should Show Patient Age Based on Date of Service
Release Date
January 11, 2021
Known Issue #
KI195584
Issue
In NextGen® Office EHR, when users enter HPI data in Chief Complaint using sentence or paragraph HPI format and exports a clinical summary PDF after the encounter is signed, the clinical summary PDF shows the patient’s age using the current date rather than the date of service. The patient's age should be based on the date of service regardless of when a user exports a clinical summary PDF. This issue only affects the exported clinical summary PDF.
Steps to Reproduce
In our example, we exported a clinical summary PDF for a signed encounter whose date of service was June 28, 2018.
- In the encounter, click the Encounter #.
- Scroll down to the Chief Complaint section.
The patient's age is shown based on the date of service (38).
- Below Manage the Clinical Summary, click Clinical Summary.
- Click Export PDF.
The patient's age is shown based on the current date (41).
