Pharmacy Messages Do Not Appear for Locations When They Are No Longer Selected as a Prescribing Location
Release Date
May 6, 2019
Known Issue #
KI181430
Issue
In NextGen® Office EHR, if a user clears the
Medications are prescribed at this location check box in
Administration: Locations for a location after already prescribing medications from that location, even though the Rx icon shows that there is a new message, the message does not show in
Pharmacy Messages. Since messages show by location, clearing the
Medications are prescribed at this location check box removes the location from the
Pharmacy Message page's
Location menu, resulting in an unshown message. This behavior occurs for any prescription sent from that location.
Steps to Reproduce
- A prescriber prescribes a medication from a practice location.
- A user later disables the location that the medication was prescribed from as a prescribing location by clearing the Medications are prescribed at this location check box in Administration: Locations.
A pharmacy sends a message to the location. The user sees the pharmacy alert, but cannot view the pharmacy message in Pharmacy Messages.
Action Required
View Messages by Enabling the Location as a Prescribing Location

, but no message appears in Pharmacy Messages, confirm which location is not enabled as a prescribing location and select the Medications are prescribed at this location check box in Administration: Locations for that location.
That location will then appear in the Location menu in Pharmacy Messages.
- Select the location to view the message.
- If you do not want this location enabled as a prescribing location, you must clear the Medications are prescribed at this location check box in Administration: Locations after you view the message.

You are navigated to the Renewal Request.
- Click Deny & Rewrite.
You are navigated to Medication List where you can prescribe the medication again for the patient from the correct location.
