Custom drugs are not part of the standard drug database (First Databank). Examples of custom drugs are compounded medications, herbs, vitamins, and supplements.
You cannot e-prescribe custom drugs. You must print a prescription.
Navigate to Medication List, Prescribe, or Medication History
- In the chart, select the Medication List tab.
- In the encounter, select P > Prescribe.
- In the encounter, select S > Medication History.
Add a Custom Drug
- Select the Prescriber.
- Select New Medication.
- Select Add a Custom Drug.
- Enter the drug description and strength.
- Select Proceed.
You are navigated to the Medication Sig page where you can add the sig. If you plan on using this custom drug again, save it as a favorite.
- Select Save and Print.
